High School: Faculty: Linscott, Penny

Lesson Plans week Jan.7, 2008

by Penny Linscott

Art I students have been working on drawing facial proportions.  They have been working on the frontal view and profile.

This week students will (using photos of Mrs. Linscott) draw the face at 3 different angles: 3/4 view, looking down and looking up.

I have taken each students' picture using a light bulb to create shadows.  Each student, using their photo, will draw their image on an 8 1/2 x 11" piece of paper. They will focus on proportions as well as blocking out dark, medium and light sections.

When the drawing is complete the will lay the drawing on a sheet of scratch board paper and will trace over their lines applying pressure so the impression will be made on the s.b. paper.

Next students will use the wooden tools to scratch through the ink revealing a color where light areas will be.
