GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!
Wow! Look at all of those cheerleaders! This is the first year JCN Middle School held open try-outs for cheerleading. Several girls came to the meetings and practices to see what being a cheerleader entailed and sixteen girls decided cheerleading was for them. The team consists of 8 seventh graders, Lauryn Baker, Allyson Fuhrman, Kayleigh Fuhrman, Denise Meyer, Katie Peres, Jacinta Priest, Allison Rule and LeAnn Weishaar and 8 eighth graders, Shanna Bain, Caitie Barnhardt, Molly Bassette, Bailee Deviney, Laramie Leakey, Randi Noll, Sami Twenhafel and the only returning cheerleader from 08-09, Heather Polson.
The high school cheerleaders held a cheer clinic for the middle school cheerleaders in August, teaching the girls cheers and a dance. The final evening of the cheer camp was a sleepover which included making posters and hair ribbons for all of the cheerleaders. It was a great experience for all of the girls. In September we attended a one-day cheer camp at Highland Community College along with the high school cheerleaders and again their support for the middle school was extraordinary.
The cheerleaders cheer at all middle school volleyball, football, and basketball games. You can see the progress they have made at every game, their confidence is building along with their skills. I am lucky that they are such a great group of girls, willing to learn, excited about cheering with a little bit of orneriness which makes it that much more fun!
Come and support all of our teams along with the middle school cheerleaders. GO CHARGERS!!
