Technology in USD #339
Four years ago, the Jefferson County North Board of Education established a Technology Team and charged it with the responsibility for developing a technology plan that would direct this district's efforts in bringing the world of technology to our students.
The team, composed of teachers, administrators, patrons, and a member of the Board accepted that charge and its efforts have resulted in a plan that has served as a guide for the important curriculum and facilities developments that have taken place. A few examples are listed below...
Progress to date:
* All of the computers are networked at the high school
* Network-wide (all computers) access to the Internet available
* Computer network installed in JCN EMS
* Reached a student to computer ratio of 2.5:1
* Developed mini-computer lab in Technology Center encouraged faculty to require use of appropriate technologies in their curricula
* Convert Elementary School into a Technology Center/District Office
* Wireless network access at each campus
* T-1 internet speed at each campus
* Every teacher has a wireless portable computer
* Two mobile labs; each containing 20 wireless portable computers
Plans for the Future:
* Develop a three-faceted technology curriculum
* Continued training for Staff in use of technology
* Development of a four-year Tech Plan that will lead us into the next phase
